mrspao ordered my Christmas present on Monday from a well known supplier of the requisite items. Since we are on holiday and planned to be at home today sorting out a mass of paperwork and form filling it seemed reasonable to pay an extra £3.99 for next day (today) delivery.
So we sorted, filled, shuffled and waited and waited and waited.
Around 4:15 we had to pop out to have a gander at a house we are interested in, returning home just after 5. No package and no card through letterbox.
At around 7 I gave in and phoned the courier:
“We stuck a card through your box as no one was home at 16:20″
“No you did not, there is no card through my letter box”
“Yes we did, you have a white door”
“No we don’t its dark brown, stained and varnished”
“Oh well the driver obviously got it wrong, anyway there was no one there so its back at the depot now for delivery tomorrow”
“Thats no good when I have paid for delivery today”
“We did try”
“To the wrong address! Look I won’t be far from the depot tomorrow I will come and collect it”
To be honest I can’t believe how useless they are, what if someone had been in at the house with the “white door”, it would have been delivered. If they were not honest then no package would have been delivered here and we would be shouting at the courier and the purveyor of fine goods.
I am not impressed not impressed at all, particularly since Shittylink didn’t even have the decency to apologise for their cockup.

Hmph, I would push it to get the shipping cost refunded (after you get the package, of course).

I agree with Chris. Get your shipping refunded.

I would like to say this is an unusual occurrence, but I have not heard a good report from anyone.
I used to get my stuff delivered to work and had no problems. This time I decided I wanted it delivered to my home address. Bad call. No goods, no card. No nothing. Someone was in the whole time, but there was no knock on the door, and I have a large knocker! I can hear people at my neighbour’s door, never mind my own! Maybe they guessed my door colour? Why get close enough to see my door colour, and then not attempt to deliver the package? Maybe the driver was behind schedule, or wanted to finish early, so didn’t have time to stop? The questions and theories keep flowing about such an illogical act!
