A productive day

It is not often at a weekend where I feel I have had a really productive day and whilst none of the following are in themselves anything major, with my current mood I feel qualified to feel quite pleased.

Dropped mrspao off into town.
Filled the car up with petrol (it needed it and no I was not panic buying).
Survived Halfords for new bulbs and wipers for the car.
Popped over to the village hall for the spring fair.
Cleared the rubbish out of the car and washed it – still need to dust/hoover.
Replaced blown bulb and worn wiper blades on the car (MOTT in a couple of weeks).
Watched half of the qualifying for the Spanish GP.
Went to Herne Bay for lunch with mrspao (Greensted’s must be the only place where you can get chicken curry with rice and chips) and had a stroll round a french market, numerous charity shops (for books though I did nearly buy an Olympus SLR) and a yarn store.
Tidied a load of stuff in the garage.
Forty winks in a lounger in the garden.
Thirty odd pages of my book.
and all the above before Doctor Who at 6:20.

Now I plan to make up a USB charger for my GPS, cook some dinner, feed the cats, watch the 2nd half of the GP qualifying, read some more book and find something fun to do with mrspao.

Oh and Perdita seems to be fairly happy although still a bit sore.

Solitary Confinement

Well after a sleepness night for both of us and thinking the worst, we have returned to the vet.

Two X-Rays later from the side and from below, shows a tiny fracture in her pelvis and a dislocated hip. The hip is now back where it should be.

So confinement to a small kitten pen for a week and some anti inflammatory medicine and she should be OK. The vet reckons around 80% chance that she will be fine and her hip will stay in place. Either way we take her back in 8 days for a checkup and take things from there.

In the meantime she is doing a good job of sitting in her cage looking like a cat that is browned off at sitting in a cage.

Have you seen this cat? – updated

Perdita it seems has gone for a stroll.

If you happen to stumble across her please kick her arse and send her home.
Fear my stripes.

A short while after posting this entry our neighbours (who we had never really met) came round with Perdita in their arms. The found her curled up in a flowerbed crying in pain. It seems she had an encounter with a car.

So now she is safely with our vet, who this evening is giving her pain killers, antibiotics and knocking her out overnight, its possible that she is in shock and in pain – so rest for now. Tomorrow she gets the X-ray treatment and we take things from there.

Part of me says phew we know where she is now and she is safe. Part of me hopes that this is not going to be too serious, seeing her held by the vet with her back legs just hanging …. At least her tail is still twitching which indicates that it is not likely to be a serious spinal injury.

Au Revoir Mr Bauer

Recently mrspao and I finally gave in and watched series 6 of 24.

It’s a bit shit.

There I have said it.

Until we got to the last few episodes there were no cliffhangers not one, not even a sniff of a sausage.

Yes there was some cool stuff and some intriguing plot twists, but due to the nailbiters being timed at two minutes before the end of each episode and the ‘phew’ moment just as the credits resolved, I really did not care.

Also the characters seemed flatter than a Michelin tyre at Indianapolis (F1 geeks will get that one), OK it has to be said that 24 is not exactly character driven but even so I really did not give a hoot about Jack or Zoe or Morris etc etc and to be honest I am not entirely sure that the producers, writers or anyone else really gave a toss either.

But then I think things dawned on them as they went through the series, the last few episodes seemed to regain some of what was missing and slowly we were drawn in. But then it has to be said that we bought the series so kind of felt obligued to watch it, but had we been watching it each week on TV then I think we would have given up after the first few episodes.

Series 3, 4 and 5 were so very very good but this was an utter let down. Having Kim in it may have actually improved the show – and I never thought I would say that.
