We can hold it in our heads simultaneously that we are going to die, and that somehow we are going to get around it. In a way, we HAVE to hold those both in our head, in order to stay sane and keep going. I think that's part of what religion is about - allowing us a semi-rational way of keeping death and continuous life in our heads at the same time. I've had to keep those both in my head this past year or more, of course. With inconsistent results. Like Stuart, I imagine I'll hold them both right up to the end. Like Merlin and Stuart, whatever happens then, I will be lucky to live in your memories. They are good ones, I treasure them now, which is the best tribute I can offer to *you*. You are a good friend, and I have no doubt that Stuart did moan about you - and love you dearly, as you deserve. We are the oddest creatures. We are playing the board game 'Pandemic' a lot lately - a cooperative game, you compete against the game as a group, rather than against each other. Which you would think would make the game less fun and challenging, but it's definitely a keeper!! Oooo, what game is that??
